Testosterone  (in women)

Testosterone isn’t just a “male hormone.” Women produce it in smaller amounts from the ovaries and adrenal glands, and it plays a meaningful role in overall health.

In a woman’s body, testosterone supports sexual desire and arousal, helps maintain lean muscle mass and strength, contributes to bone density, and supports energy, motivation, and confidence. It also works in balance with estrogen and progesterone to influence mood and cognitive clarity.

When levels decline—particularly in midlife—some women notice lower libido, reduced stamina, decreased muscle tone, or a subtle drop in drive. Like all hormones, its value lies in balance, not excess.

Too much testosterone can lead to PCOS, acne, and insulin resistance.
